Will Sach

Will Sach is a double bassist whose work spans jazz, improvised music, recording, and film. He has performed with a wide range of leading contemporary musicians across the globe, exploring how the tradition of jazz and improvised music can live and evolve in a contemporary setting.

Will has worked extensively with Wynton Marsalis, first performing together in 2023 at Buxton Opera House, reuniting in 2024 at Winfield House in London, and again in August 2024 for a concert at the Edinburgh International Festival with the Wynton Marsalis Quartet. The performance, which featured special guest Hamilton de Holanda alongside Joe Webb and Francesco Ciniglio, was filmed live for Sky Arts. In March 2025, Will appeared as a featured soloist with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at the Barbican Centre, and he has taken part in multiple gala performances with Marsalis for the Benedetti Foundation.

Will is a core member of the Joe Webb Trio, signed to Edition Records, who released the critically acclaimed album, Hamstrings and Hurricanes. The trio was shortlisted for the 2025 Mercury Prize and performed live at the awards ceremony on the BBC. The Joe Webb Trio seamlessly blends traditional jazz with contemporary flair, breathing new life into classic jazz idioms and creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly original.

Will has had the pleasure of collaborating with Sam Amidon, delving into American folk music through duo performances and live shows for Amidon's Salt River album.

In July 2024, Will toured the UK with the Joe Farnsworth Quartet featuring Sarah Hanahan and Will Barry.

Will’s recorded work includes releases for Blue Note Records, Edition Records, and Decca Records, as well as appearances on 15 albums as a sideman, including a collaboration with Sheku Kanneh-Mason at Abbey Road Studios.

Additional performance highlights include a duo performance with Aron! at the Royal Albert Hall, a London Jazz Festival featured soloist with the London Sinfonietta, as well as performing in trio with Kit Downes and Martin France, and with British jazz legend Stan Sulzmann.

He is also an active educator, teaching privately and leading workshops internationally, including at Leeds Conservatoire, Sappho Taiwan, the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and Birmingham Conservatoire.

Alongside his performing and teaching career, Will has appeared in film, portraying Scott LaFaro in Grant Gee’s Everybody Digs Bill Evans, set for release this year. He is also active as a composer for film, with credited work on Next Life, directed by Drake Doremus.

In 2026, Will was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, an honour awarded to alumni who have made a significant contribution to the profession. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2019 with first-class honours, where he studied with Dave Holland.

Originally from the New York City area, Will grew up immersed in jazz, bluegrass, and old-time music, studied at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College under Linda Oh, and received the National YoungArts Foundation Merit Award for Jazz Bass in 2015.

In the upcoming year, Will has global touring planned with the Joe Webb Trio, Tom Ollendorff Trio, and with Jonny Mansfield Quartet featuring Emmanuel Michael, performing throughout Asia, America and Europe.
